Frequent Questions

How does the Registry of Environmental Applications, Models and Databases (READ) support the EPA's Enterprise Architecture (EA)?

READ is EPA's authoritative information resource inventory for the application layer of EPA's Enterprise Architecture.  The application layer identifies information resources that support the business operations of the Agency.  READ collects information that supports the Enterprise Architecture, such as how the information resource interfaces or interrelates with other information resources.  A READ record also maps the information resource to "reference models" that are designed to facilitate cross-agency analysis and the identification of duplicative investments, gaps, and opportunities for collaboration within and across Federal Agencies.

The Enterprise Architecture team at EPA pulls this data from READ for their programmatic use and planning.  For more information about reference models, go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/e-gov/fea
