Frequent Questions

What is meant by Data Stewardship in the Substance Registry System (SRS)?

Each list in the Substance Registry System (SRS) has a steward who is designated to maintain the information about that list, including the substances within that list. The steward has edit access only to the substance metadata specific to that list, such as the synonym, reason for regulation, and alternate identification. The steward does not have edit access to the standard substance metadata, such as CAS name or molecular weight. Stewardship encompasses the entire life cycle of the record from its inception through its eventual replacement and retirement.
